Father Jean-Yves Urfié (August 4, 1937 – February 9, 2021) served in the congregation of the Holy Spirit (Congregation du Saint Esprit) since 1963.  He was an outstanding priest, spiritual leader, teacher, human rights activist, journalist, and videographer. He left an indelible mark in the Haitian community.

In Haiti, Father Jean-Yves, as they called him, was a Teacher and Director at College Saint-Martial of Port-au-Prince. He led the Freedom Journal (Jounal Libète). He directed the Saint Pierre and Saint Paul parish in Furcy, where he developed an agricultural program for the youth.

Father Urfié also founded a cultural youth program in Brooklyn, New York, serving Haitian immigrants. His minstrel extended to Gabon, as Director of a seminary, to Guyana, as Pastor and District Supervisor, to Rome as Website General Secretary, Adjunct General Secretary, Iand Translator, and to France as Pastor, and Communications Director, & Secretary of the Spiritus publication.

During his ministry in Haiti and New York, Fr. Jean-Yves developed a strong bond with Dr. Yves Dejean, founder of Sant Twa Ti Flè.  In 2019, he initiated a grant request that led to the enhancement of the computer lab with the help of volunteer Technology Teacher, Allan Quellery. The computer lab has been be renamed “Sal Teknoloji Pè Jean-Yves Urfié ” (Technology Room Father Jean-Yves Urfié).
