Myriam Carmelle Augustin, July 14,1957 – June 15, 2021
Three Little Flowers Center, Inc. , the educational community of New York, family, friends, and colleagues have lost a phenomenal educator, Myriam Carmelle Augustin.
Myriam dedicated her life to promoting and defending the rights of Haitians, their language and culture in Haiti and abroad. She was a respected leader and advocate for immigrant students and their families. As a passionate artist, Myriam used her delightful voice to sing about her beloved Haiti, its people and social justice.
She was an active member of ANMWE, the Haitian teachers and parents advocacy entity; Ayizan, a musical group; Kalfou Lakay, a cultural organization; Lasous, a Haitian cultural youth project and the National Center of the Haitian Apostolate. Myriam also engaged and supported several organizations that have direct impact in Haiti, The Lambi Fund of Haiti; MUDHA, the Dominican Republic-based women’s organization in Leogane; Renesansavo, a project with the youth of Anse a Veau; and Three Little Flowers Center, Inc. which supports Sant Twa Ti Flè, in Port Royal, Haiti.
Myriam’s daughter, Malayka Lemoine, her brother, Tony Augustin, and sisters, Gyliane Morgan, and Nathalie Augustin, decided to honor her legacy as an educator, teacher trainer, and parent advocate with monetary donations to Three Little Flowers Center, Inc. Three Little Flowers Center, Inc. is truly grateful. Proceeds of the donations wil be used to provide sets of Creole reading books for students, and resource guides for teachers to deliver more impactful reading lessons.
May her soul rest in God’s love and peace!
